From the El Segundo PD...

On August 2, 2012, El Segundo Investigators received an anonymous report through the Department of Children and Family Services alleging the sexual assault of two male juveniles. A thorough investigation was conducted and it was determined that two students were assaulted last school year in a classroom while attending Center Street School in El Segundo. Today, Jeffrey Simonek, a 5th grade teacher who has been on administrative leave during this investigation, was served with a warrant for his arrest pursuant to these crimes.

From 2005 to 2011, Simonek worked as a camp counselor for boys ages 6-11 at a summer camp in the Lake Tahoe area. This investigation has revealed Simonek committed similar criminal acts with young boys at this camp. Simonek has also volunteered with various youth organizations in Los Angeles and Orange County, which placed him in direct contact with young boys. Based on the investigation, it is believed Simonek sought these volunteer and counselor positions which allowed him to interact with boys he could potentially victimize.
