RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KTLA) -- Authorities are trying to determine what's behind a sulfur or rotten eggs smell in the air across much of the Southland.

The Los Angeles Fire Department has received hundreds of phone calls -- including some to 911 -- about the odor, which has been reported from the Palm Springs area to Simi Valley.
