Southern California retailers should have a green Christmas this year, with holiday sales expected to increase 3.4 percent from 2011, according to a forecast released Tuesday.

"It's actually looking pretty good," Kimberly Ritter-Martinez, senior economist at the Kyser Center for Economic Research Center in Los Angeles, said of the holiday outlook.

Last year the center forecast a 3.5 percent sales increase from 2010 but an unexpected burst of sales pushed the increase to 5.4 percent better than the year before...
