A fearless South African skateboarder is facing prosecution after he was filmed triggering a speed camera while careering down a road at around 70 mph.

Decio Lourenco is in trouble with the law after a video was posted to YouTube showing the 24-year-old hurtling down Kloof Nek Road, between Table Mountain and Lion’s Head in Cape Town — and setting off a traffic camera in a 37 mph (60 kph) speed limit zone.

The graphic design student apparently went much faster – breaching 70 mph (110 kph) according to a GPS device attached to his foot, reports the U.K. Guardian. The YouTube video has gained more than one million views.

Lourenco, who was wearing helmet and gloves, passed so close to oncoming traffic that JP Smith, mayoral committee member for safety and security, has since said that the daredevil will be prosecuted for reckless and negligent road behavior.
