And the Most Popular Plastic Surgery in 2016 Was....

The most popular plastic surgeries have been revealed in a new report from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and once again breast augmentation was the most requested 'upgrade' by patients.

According to the report, Americans got nearly 1.8 million cosmetic surgeries and 15.5 million minimally invasive ones. The information is compiled from a national survey as well as a national database in which plastic surgery society members report which procedures they performed.

The data also showed how plastic surgeons are using new trends with how body fat can shape a person's body.

According to ASPS President Debra Johnson, "One trend we are seeing with fat involves an increase in fat grafting procedures. Plastic surgeons harvest a patient's unwanted fat from their abdomen using liposuction and then inject it to lift and rejuvenate other areas such as the face, buttock and even the breast. Because the material injected is the patient's own fat the results typically last longer than fillers."

Liposuction (which removes excess body fat) was in second place with around 235,000 surgeries performed. Nose jobs, eyelid surgeries and facelifts were also incredible popular with patients in 2016. The tummy tuck did not make the top five, after being bumped by the more popular facelift.

Major surgeries aside, minimally invasive procedures like Botox injections and chemical peels were ranked the same as they were in 2015. Laser hair removal also continues to be a popular option for people.

The top five plastic surgeries:

  1.  Breast Augmentation
  2. Liposuction
  3. Nose reshaping
  4. Eyelid Surgeries
  5. Facelifts

The top five minimally invasive procedures in 2016 were:

  1. Botox
  2. Soft-tissue fillers
  3. Chemical peels
  4. Laser hair removal
  5. Microdermabrasions.
