An armed suspect at a veterans home north of San Francisco has reportedly taken as many as three hostages inside one of the buildings there.

The massive complex in Yountville, California is on lockdown amid the heavy police presence. All residents and staff have been advised to shelter in place.

Law enforcement is responding in force and has set up a perimeter around the home.  Officials say about 1,000 veterans live at the home.

Authorities say the shooter's car has been quarantined at the scene, and his identity is known to local law enforcement.

There were early reports of shots fired, but there has been no news whether there has been any casualties.
