Assembly Bill 3059. Remember that. It's the bill written by Assemblyman Richard Bloom (D-Santa Monica) and State Senator Scott Wiener requiring drivers to pay a toll to gain access to specific parts of town, typically areas with high concentrations of traffic like a downtown or densely populated area.
The bill has been pitched before in San Francisco and was vehemently rejected. AB3059 is set to be heard in committee in May and if it passes, one city lawmaker plans to implement it in San Francisco immediately.
Traffic congestion is depriving Californians of their time, money and health — we’ve run out of options and our 20th century transportation solutions simply won’t cut it anymore,” Bloom said in a statement.
