Motorist Taken Into Custody in Encino Area Following Freeway Chase

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Authorities today arrested a motorist who led them on a freeway chase from Arcadia to the Encino area, where officers forced the SUV to stop.

The pursuit ended about 1:20 p.m. on the westbound Ventura (101) Freeway east of Hayvenhurst Avenue, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Officers began chasing the black SUV about 20 minutes earlier on the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway near Santa Anita Avenue when they saw the man driving alone in the carpool lane, the CHP reported.

The SUV went onto the westbound Ventura (134) Freeway and onto the westbound 101 Freeway. When the vehicle slowed for traffic, the officers used their vehicles to corral it from the front and rear, and the motorist stopped and surrendered without further incident.
