Most Counties Are Far From Meeting Newsom's Guidelines For Reopening

Stay-at-home orders in California have started to relax as Governor Gavin Newsom announced the staggered re-opening of the state's economy on Thursday. This comes after the COVID-19 outbreak and lockdown measures have left The Golden State with a $53.4 billion budget shortfall, according to Newsom.

Bookstores, clothing stores, florists, and sporting goods businesses can begin selling via curbside take away, so long as they meet the government standards set. Once the counties are able to test for the coronavirus on a wider scale and healthcare facilities can handle the capacity, hair salons, gyms, offices, and dining-in restaurants will be given the green light.

But how many of the counties will actually be able to meet those standards?

According to a recent analysis conducted by the Los Angeles Times, not one single county in Southern California, or the San Francisco Bay Area, are even close to meeting those standards needed for reopening... The only 24 counties that meet the standards are all in Northern California.
