Two Dead Following Apparent Liquid Nitrogen Leak At Vernon Food Plant

VERNON (CNS) - Two people at a Vernon food processing plant lost consciousness and died following an apparent liquid nitrogen leak, authorities said today.

Crews were dispatched shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday to the plant at 4401 S. Downey Ave., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The man and woman who died were not immediately identified.

Vernon and Los Angeles County hazmat teams were sent to the scene to investigate, according to the county fire department.
