LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Wind advisories have expired for much of the Southland, but there was a chance that some strong, advisory-level gusts could persist into this morning, the National Weather Service said.
Advisories expired at 6 p.m. Sunday for the Los Angeles County Mountains (excluding the Santa Monica Range), along with the Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area and the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys.
The NWS was warning of local gusts as high as 35 to 45 mph Sunday evening, with the possibility of stronger levels Monday morning.
“Gusty Santa Ana winds through and below passes and along the coastal foothills will continue through early Monday,'' the weather service said.“East winds will drop off on Monday, but it will be very dry and a little warmer. Cooler, onshore flow returns Tuesday.''
In the Riverside County mountains, a wind advisory was in effect until 3 a.m. Monday. The NWS said to expect gusts to 35 mph overnight Sunday and into Monday.
In Orange County coastal areas, an advisory was in effect until 3 p.m. In Orange County inland areas, the NWS warned of gusts to 30 mph.
