Average L.A. County Gas Price Rises For 31st Consecutive Day

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the 31st consecutive day and 51st time in 52 days, increasing 1.6 cents to $3.862, its highest amount since Nov. 28, 2019.

The average price has increased 51.4 cents in the past 52 days, including nine-tenths of a cent on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 8.6 cents more than one week ago, 31.9 cents higher than one month ago and 39.6 cents greater than one year ago.

The Orange County average price rose for the 32nd consecutive day and 65th time in 66 days, increasing 2.1 cents to $3.856, its highest amount since Nov. 23, 2019. It has increased 63.2 cents in the last 66 days, including seven-tenths of a cent on Thursday.

The Orange County average price is 10 cents more than one week ago, 33.2 cents higher than one month ago and 43.7 cents greater than one year ago.

Prices are rising for multiple reasons, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.

“In addition to refinery utilization being at a record low, tightening gas supplies, more expensive summer-blend fuel in the marketplace, and a modest increase in demand for fuel as people drive more, the dollar's value has dropped relative to other currencies, leading to higher crude oil prices,'' Spring said.
