Average LA County Gas Price Rises For 21st Time in 23 Days

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the 21st time in 23 days, increasing a half-cent to $4.335, its highest amount since Oct. 25, 2012.

The average price has increased 8.9 cents over the past 23 days, including two-tenths of a cent Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 2.7 cents more than one week ago, 9 cents higher than one month ago and $1.239 greater than one year ago.

The average price has increased $1.103 since the start of the year because of a sharp increase in the oil price and increased demand due to more people driving to work, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.

The Orange County average price rose for the 15th time in 18 days, increasing seven-tenths of a cent to $4.295, its highest amount since May 3, 2014. It has risen 9.2 cents over the past 18 days, including four-tenths of a cent Tuesday.

The Orange County average price is 3.1 cents more than one week ago, 10 cents higher than one month ago and $1.216 greater than one year ago. It has risen $1.087 since the start of the year.
