Police Seek Information on Hit-And-Run That Left Man Dead in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Police today were seeking information on a hit-and- run driver who struck and killed a man in the Harbor Gateway area of Los Angeles.

The man was crossing Normandie Avenue just north of West Jon Street about 10:40 p.m. Saturday when he was struck by a vehicle traveling south on Normandie, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The vehicle's driver fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics were called to the area and pronounced the man dead at the scene. He name was withheld pending notification of his next of kin, though the coroner's office noted he was in his 40s.

The vehicle that struck the man was described as possibly being a black SUV, though no further details were released.
